Welcome and thank you for your interest in China Prep.
When I first traveled to China, I was 17. What I witnessed was a foreign and vibrant culture unlike any I had imagined. When I enrolled at Brown University the following year, I took every class about Asia I could. I also focused on learning to speak, read, and write Mandarin. What I learned in school was crucial to my understanding, but it wasn’t until I took my education out of the classroom and into China’s bustling cities and rural heartland that I made the language fully my own. Communication became my most valuable currency granting me access to people, places and experiences rare to a foreigner in modern China.
Since my first visit in 1994, I have developed my knowledge of the language, history, culture, and people of China as a tourist, graduate student and business professional. Before founding China Prep, I worked for several years as a market research expert advising leading multi-national companies on the changing Chinese consumer and surging economy. I have spoken with thousands of Chinese people at all levels of society and made many wonderful friends. Through their eyes, I have seen a multifaceted nation changing rapidly. In countless discussions with them, I have been asked what it means to be American and how China’s values relate to my own. It is through such cultural exchanges as these that I have learned the most—not only about China but also about myself.
Our mission is to create dynamic, experiential trips to China to educate and inspire. We hope you will join us and we look forward to sharing our experiences with you.
Best Regards,
